Exactly four years have passed since my host mother Pigr was buried. I&#8217;m traveling via Accra and Wa and then to the farmstead in Hiineteng. This time, I&#8217;m taking Uwe, my partner, with me. That alone will be exciting. I&#8217;m sure everyone will be thrilled that I&#8217;m finally bringing my husband with me. In addition, the Bagri Festival always takes place at the turn of the year. It is an annual festival celebrated by the chiefs and people of Jirapa, Lawra, and Nandom in the Upper West Region of Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>During the festival, visitors are welcome to share food and drinks with each other. A durbar of the chiefs takes place as part of the festival. There is a lot of dancing and drumming. As far as I understand, the Bagri is also a \u201ccleansing ritual\u201d for all residents.<\/p>\n<p>Now it&#8217;s time to experience the Bagri during my visit and find out exactly what it&#8217;s all about.
